The counseling program at Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services, Inc. offers therapy to all age groups ranging from toddlers to senior citizens. Our team of therapists is well-rounded and well-trained so that we are able to provide assessments and treatment services including individual, group, family, and couples therapy. We also work closely with community professionals including medical doctors, hospitals, and schools to provide comprehensive treatment. Worcester Youth believes not only in minimizing distress but also in capitalizing on an individual’s strengths and maximizing wellness. See our list below regarding our areas of specialty and specific credentials for our counselors.
CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocate
Court Appointed Special Advocates is a volunteer driven program that passionately advocates for abused and neglected children who are caught up in the court and child welfare maze because they are unable to live safely at home.
Family Connections was created in 2003 to serve as a single point of access for families trying to navigate through the myriad of existing social services. Families were not receiving help because services were often confusing to find and challenging to obtain. By working with clients, it became apparent that there were gaps in existing services. Our program is fluid and continues to work toward finding solutions to unmet needs. With the motto “A hand up, NOT a hand out”, Family Connections links families with needed resources by networking with many sectors of the community including faith-based and civic organizations, non-profit agencies, business leaders and interested community members. The program acts as a safety net to families with multiple needs. These families would otherwise be left in grave circumstances with no hope of change.
Programs for our youth offer meaningful cultural, education and wellness experiences that promote happy and healthy living for youth. Two adolescent programs help meet our young adult needs, one is entitled Strengthening Adolescent Girls with Education & Support (SAGES) and the other is entitled Strengthening Adolescent Boys with Education & Resources (SABERS). A third program provides support for pre-adolescent children and is entitled The Berlin Youth Club.
In addition to this menu of services, WYFCS provides an array of personalized youth and parenting services throughout the year catering to the needs of our clients.
The primary goal of Worcester Navigation is to reduce the effects of financial hardship on children and families in Worcester county by connecting them to resources based upon their particular needs. This includes, but is not limited to, financial assistance, financial literacy, educational support, job readiness training, mental health therapy, substance abuse service, wellness services, and medical treatment. What makes this program unique is the emphasis of moving beyond an immediate crisis and targeting long-term sustainability and wellness.
