In 2025, Worcester Youth and Family is celebrating 50 Years of Shining!

Welcome to the party!

We are excited to start sharing new information about our 50th Anniversary and all that we plan to do leading up to the big day. More is coming soon, so check back often!

History

Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services, Inc. started as a small program in cooperation with Shore Up! and Salisbury State College (now University) Social Work Department.  The organization arose due to high school students requesting counseling services that were not allied with any existing agency or school.  While providing accessible counseling services was the initial goal, over time the organization expanded to meet multiple behavioral health and social service needs in the community.

WYFCS has hosted a variety of mental health and youth outreach programs since their inception, including the SAGES/SABERS program for youth transitioning into teenhood, group therapy for parents and children, our Family Connections program for families looking for resources, mentor/mentee services (including the current Worcester Connects program), and more. They were the hosts of the Worcester County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for many years, working with the community volunteers to provide a source of light to children in the justice and foster care system.

WYFCS has also done a significant amount of events and fundraisers for the community. These include the School Supply Drive for students and teachers, National Night Out, the Friday Night Art Strolls in Berlin, Oktoberfest, and the Bus Stop Snack Shack. Currently, the agency continues to support the community with outreach yearlong; some of our most recent initiatives include Toys for Tots, The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore Giving Tuesday, Pocomoke High School after-school programs, and Jessie’s Paddle.

Currently, WYFCS has four programs- clinical mental health counseling, our financial outreach arm “Worcester Navigation”, our mentor/mentee services “Worcester Connects”, and the Berlin Youth Club, our free events and summer camp program for kids aged 6-12.
