How To Help

Why Do We Ask For Donations?

Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services is a private nonprofit 501(c)3 agency. This means that we are not taking in money for profits for a board or a boss, but money we get gets passed along back into our programs and our community. As nonprofits continue to work on key issues like homelessness, poverty, physical and mental health, and youth outreach, we are often met with rising costs that make the work we do more difficult.

Donations from our community have been found time and time again to be the most fruitful ways we have of expanding and encircling our community.

Where Does The Money Go?

Each year, our accountant and overall money whiz Brian makes us a budget that transfers into our four different agency programs. Each program has its own ways of community fundraising and may receive specific grants or pots of money based on what they do for the community. The donations we receive that are not from a grantor organization are divided up and distributed into the programs. The money donated can be specifically given to one program, but most people choose to give to the area of greatest need.

What Can My Money Do?

In short? A lot!

We broke down some of our program needs and this is what we found-

  • A $10-40 donation can help us make an emergency toiletry kit, buy diapers for a new mother, get us a little treat for our mentees or camp kids, or pay a copay for a family in need.
  • A $50-100 donation can fund a family for a holiday meal, help us by art supplies and materials for a Half Day Hangout, or buy coats for a 2-kid family.
  • A $100-200 donation can help us fund a family facing homelessness for a week of hotel stay, stock our Little Healthy Food Pantry, or pay off a balance for an individual in therapy.
  • Larger donations can do all of the above, plus help us do things like take our kids on a fun field trip or providing community-wide classes on key issues!

No matter what we receive, we put donations towards where it matters for our community- and that’s how we shine.
